Professional Grade Kubaton Keychains from Vigilant
Vigilant Professional Grade Kubatons are made from commercial grade aircraft aluminum so as to make them light weight and able to last a lifetime as your keychain. We built them like the original Kubatons, with finger grips for natural handling. We added a hard core key ring, and a purse/backpack clip so that you would carry it everywhere you go. We drilled the keyring hole right through the end of the Kubaton so if you hit someone in the face (um... accidentally) with your keys attached, your keys won't detach from the Kubaton.
The Kubotan is a self-defense keychain weapon developed by Sōke Takayuki Kubota in the late 1960s. It is typically no more than 5.5 inches long (which is what the Vigilant models measure) and about half an inch in diameter, slightly thicker than a marker pen. The material is usually of a hard high-impact plastic, but the Vigilant Pro Grade Kubatons are made from commercial grade aircraft aluminum. The body of the Kubotan is lined with six round grooves with a screw eye and/or swivel and split ring attachment at one end for keys.
The principal targets in self-defense include bony, fleshy and sensitive parts such as knuckles, forearms, the bridge of the nose, shins, stomach, solar plexus, spine, temple, ribs, groin, neck and eyes. The Kubotan is usually held in either an icepick grip (for hammer-fist strikes) or forward grip (for stabbing, pressure point attacks and seizing). Common uses include hardening the fist for punching, attacking vulnerable parts of an assailant's body, and gaining leverage on an assailant's wrist, fingers and joints. With keys attached, it can function as a flailing weapon. As a pressure point weapon it can attack any point a finger can, but with greater penetration because of the smaller surface area at the ends.
In the United States there are few legal restrictions on Kubotans, with the notable exception that they are prohibited as carry-on items for air travelers. We do not ship Kubotans internationally due to varying legalities in countries outside of the United States.
